Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Burlington Central’s girls soccer team notched two more wins Saturday and with them came the championship of the Kaneland Klassic.

The Rockets opened the day with a 4-1 win over Streamwood, scoring all 4 goals in the second half. Cali Andrew had 2 goals for BC while Maddie Stoneman and Chloe Plum added single knocks. Caitlin Solberg made 9 saves in goal and Paola Ascencio stopped 1 shot in the net.

Central then secured the tournament title with a 3-0 win over Kaneland. Andrew again scored 2 goals and Michelle Fowler added the other, while Solberg made 13 saves in goal for her seventh shutout of the season.

Courtney Andrew, Fowler, Stoneman, Camille Dela Cruz and Cali Andrew made the all-tournament team for the Rockets (12-5-1).

Kaneland 3, Streamwood 1: Stephanie Brown had the Sabres’ lone goal in this loss at the Kaneland Klassic. Brianna Roppo had 6 saves and Hannah McGlone stopped 3 shots for Streamwood.

Streamwood 4, Woodstock 3: Stephanie Brown scored twice as the Sabres salvaged a win at the Kaneland Klassic. Kim Jimenez and Erika Delgado scored Streamwood’s other goals and Hannah McGlone made 11 saves in the net for the Sabres.

Latin 4, Elgin Academy 3: Ashley Barnes scored twice and Veronica Clements had a goal but the Hilltoppers (5-7-1, 3-4-0) fell short in this Independent School League game.
