Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup
A second-half goal by Wendy Gaudarama gave Larkin’s girls soccer team a 1-1 Upstate Eight Conference tie with Streamwood Wednesday at Millennium Field.
Rose Camarrina assisted on the goal and Dianna Hernandez made 4 saves in goal for the Royals (0-11-2, 0-2-1).
“It was our best game of the year,” said Larkin coach Ken Hall. “We played real hard and I hope we play like this more.”
Amy Tyskiewicz scored Streamwood’s goal and Brianna Roppo had 8 saves in the net for the Sabres.
Hampshire 8, Harvard 0: Jori Anderson had a hat trick and Dakota Walther scored 2 goals as Hampshire (8-2-4, 3-0) rolled to a Big Northern East win. Karla Vietinghoff, Helena Van Eck and Kelsey Anderson also had goals for the Whip-Purs. Haylee Moscato and Alex Dumoulin shared the shutout in goal.
CL South 6, Johnsburg 0: Kali Loescher scored twice for the Gators (6-5-2, 5-1) in this Fox Valley Conference win. Ellen Brunner, Karli Schumaker, Christina Szocka and Faith Brunner also scored for CL South, while Elizabeth Quinn made 3 saves in goal for her sixth shutout of the season.
Metea Valley 3, South Elgin 0: Kaylee Latsonas made 6 saves in goal for South Elgin (7-5, 2-2) in this Upstate Eight loss.
Boys volleyball
Bartlett d. Larkin: David Upp had 5 kills, 3 aces and 4 digs to lead the Hawks (12-7, 1-2) to a 25-12, 25-11 Upstate Eight win over Larkin. Alex Barat had 3 kills for Bartlett and Andrew Harris set 8 assists.
