Calico Beans
¼ pound bacon
¼ pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup ketchup
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 can (16 ounces) pork & beans, drained
1 can (16 ounces) butter beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (16 ounces) white northern beans, drained and rinsed
Heat oven to 350 degrees.In a medium skillet, fry bacon until crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate. When cool enough to handle, crumble into coarse pieces. Wipe skillet clean.In the same skillet; brown ground beef and onion, breaking up the meat as it cooks, until beef is no longer pink. Drain off grease.To the pan add ketchup, sugars and vinegar and mix well. Stir in beans and crumbled bacon. Transfer mixture to a deep-sided 9-by-13-inch pan or 2-quart casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.Serves 10 to 12.
