Elgin student charged in school thefts
An Elgin High School student was arrested at school Wednesday after police linked him to at least two thefts that have been reported at the school, police said.
Antoine D. Truesdell, 19, was charged with two counts of theft after a several-month police investigation into more than 15 thefts at the school, said Elgin Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson.
The Elgin Police Department and District U-46 staff conducted a joint investigation while monitoring the crimes closely, and were able to link Truesdell to two of the crimes, police said.
Police said the majority of the thefts occurred in the boy's locker room at the school at 1200 Maroon Drive.
Truesdell appeared in court Thursday morning and posted 10 percent of the $10,000 bond.
Police are continuing the investigation into the other thefts.
