Dundee-Crown to stage 'Fiddler on the Roof'

Dundee-Crown High School will perform the award-winning musical, "Fiddler on the Roof," at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22 to Saturday, April 24, in the high school's fine arts auditorium, 1 Charger Country in Carpentersville.

"Fiddler on the Roof" is set in 1905 in the small Jewish village of Anatevka, Russia. The story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his attempts to maintain both family and religious traditions during a time of growing anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia.

The Broadway musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, is based on "Tevye and his Daughters" and other tales by Yiddish author and playwright Sholem Aleichem.

The cast of 70 is directed by Lisa Bettcher, Dundee-Crown choral director.

Advance ticket sales start Wednesday, April 7 in the main office at Dundee-Crown High School. Tickets are $8, or $7 for seniors and students.
