Scouting Hoffman Estates at Conant

Hoffman Estates (0-7, 0-3) at Conant (2-5, 0-3)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Charles O. Feutz Field

Last week: Hoffman lost to Barrington 17-6; Conant lost to Schaumburg 42-21

Outlook: The Mayor's Cup of Hoffman Estates is on the line and Conant has won the last nine in a series it leads 25-11. Hoffman has lost 23 straight but is coming off its best defensive effort of the year led by LB Jermaine Moore (12 tackles, 2 tackles for loss) and gets senior C Matt Pasik back from injury. "We're playing for something more than just a Friday night game," said Hoffman coach Bill Helzer. "If we bring the effort we had against Barrington again this week I feel good about it." Conant lost its fifth straight last week but QB Matt Cullen threw for 159 yards and 2 TDs and Jacoby Sims got the running game going. "I thought we played actually fairly well last week but they're fairly good," said Conant coach Bill Modelski. "Our kids are fired up. It's homecoming and Hoffman and there's always a circus that goes with that."
