Elgin Highbull; On Thursday, the string and chamber orchestras and the viola ensemble will perform a concert at 7 p.m. in the Elgin High School auditorium, 1200 Maroon Drive. Admission is $1 per student or senior citizen, $2 per adult and $6 per family.bull; On Sunday, the 37th Collectibles and Crafts Flea Market will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school at 1200 Maroon Drive. Admission is $2; early admission at 8 a.m. is $5.South Elgin Highbull; On Tuesday at 7 p.m., the final event of "Battle of the Books" will take place in the South Elgin High School auditorium, 760 E. Main St. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Special guest will be John Hendrix, the illustrator of "Abe Lincoln Crosses a Creek." Books-only autographing will be available before and after the program. Books will be available for purchase before and after the program. Approximate cost for books ranges from $6-$20. The principal will be enjoying the pie toss aimed at him. Pizza, hot dogs, nachos, chicken fingers and more will be available for purchase. Tickets are 50 cents each and $12 tickets can be pre-ordered for unlimited games.Sunnydalebull; On Saturday, parents at Sunnydale Elementary School in Streamwood are invited to participate in a Candlelight Bowl from 8 p.m. to midnight at Streamwood Lanes. They raised $3,373 for the American Heart Association. bull; Fifth-grader Alex Javor at Wayne Elementary School saw a fellow student choking on a mint and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Alex learned the Heimlich maneuver from his father after Alex himself had choked on a hot dog at camp one day. Way to "pay it forward" Alex.bull; On Saturday, the Middle School Band Festival will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave. Bands will be judged by outside adjudicators.
