Shame on those suing U-46

I think the five families that are suing the U-46 school district should be ashamed. All the money spent on lawyers could have been put to decreasing class size, buying classroom materials and ideally decreasing our debt.

I went to a one-room school house for a while and had no indoor plumbing. Today I am a successful, financially independent woman who worked for what I have.

Granted, everyone likes a beautiful facility with state-of-the-art amenities, but that is not what determines a good education. A child’s education is dependent of the skills of the teacher, the motivation of the child to learn, and the support and involvement of the parent. Children do not need a beautiful new school to learn; or, most importantly, to be successful in life!

We should be setting an example for our children that working hard and doing what is right will determine one’s success in life. Hopefully, those families’ children will not learn from what their parents have done. Just be thankful for what you’re given for an education in this wonderful country.
