Sch. Twp. trustee stable after heart attack

Schaumburg Township Trustee Richard Taccini was reportedly in stable condition Friday after suffering a massive heart attack earlier in the day at the Meineke Recreation Center in Schaumburg.

Former state Rep. Paul Froehlich, who was at the Schaumburg Park District facility at the time, said Taccini, 70, had been running on the treadmill when he collapsed.

Froehlich said some already are crediting the quick CPR response of those present, as well as the availability of an automatic defibrillator, for helping save Taccini’s life.

Schaumburg Park District Spokeswoman Pat Casler said all park district personnel are trained in CPR and are wishing Taccini a full and quick recovery.

Taccini, a 30-year resident of the township, is in his second term as a trustee. He was recovering Friday at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
