Fox River Fires/Rescue to lay out plans

The Fox River Countryside Fire/Rescue District will host a community open house Saturday to provide residents the opportunity to review plans to improve fire and rescue services.

The open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hosanna Lutheran Church, 36W925 Red Gate Road, St. Charles. It will feature a presentation outlining the development of two new fire stations to serve the district, the equipment and staff that the district plans to employ, and how these reforms will positively impact public safety and public finances.

The district will also have on hand for public inspection demos of the ambulances and fire trucks the district has acquired.

The district serves a 50-square-mile area of St. Charles, Campton and Wayne townships, plus parts of the villages of Campton Hills and Wayne.

The open house is sponsored by the district’s Citizens Advisory Committee, which promotes public input into the activities of the fire and rescue district.

Thursday night, the district board voted to enter into specific negotiations with American Emergency Services and the city of St. Charles before selecting a provider.

The district will meet next at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Fire Station 1 on Riverside Drive in the downtown area.

The district has said it will make its provider choice on or before Feb. 1.
