Two principals appointed in Dist. 54

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 welcomed new principals for two of its junior highs at its meeting Thursday.

Kara Prusko, the current interim principal of Dwight D. Eisenhower Junior High School, was officially appointed as principal of the school.

Yvette Davidson, current principal of Walter R. Sundling Junior High School in Palatine’s District 15, was named principal of Frost Junior High School.

Board Vice President Charlotte Kegarise praised the staff at Dwight D. Eisenhower school for creating an environment for Prusko to succeed, noting that it “speaks volumes” about the school that they were able to help bring Prusko forward in her career. “She just stepped right up,” Kegarise said.

“Real success is finding your life work in the work you love,” Prusko said, quoting David McCullough, “and I have.”

Kegarise commended the Frost staff members on the appointment of Davidson. If they weren’t doing such a great job, we wouldn’t have been able to attract such a high-caliber candidate, she noted. Davidson thanked the staff, the board, her parents and others for giving her the opportunity to join the district’s team.

Prusko has been an employee of the district since 1996, serving as a special service teacher at Neil Armstrong Elementary School; as a language arts teacher at Jane Addams Junior High School; and as assistant principal and interim principal at Dwight D. Eisenhower Junior High School.

Davidson has served Palatine District 15’s Walter R. Sundling Junior High School as principal or assistant principal since 2006 and was a teacher at Barrington Middle School’s Prairie Campus and at Haines Middle School in St. Charles.
