Fabbri fills it up as St. Viator rolls
JuniorguardErin Fabbri scored 18 points to lead St. Viator to a 62-35 victory over host St. Edward in a nonconference girls basketball game on Tuesday night.
Seniors Hannah Scheller added 9 points and Jennie Horstmann 8 for the Lions, who improved to 5-2.
Stevenson 44, Prospect 38: Sophomore Catherine Sherwood equaled her career-high of 15 points and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds for the visiting Knights (6-3).
Classmate Taylor Will added 8 points with 5 rebounds.
Seniors Adriane Falagario added 8 points and Michele Molini 5 for the Knights.
It was a reunion of sorts for Prospect first-year coach Ashley Graham and Stevenson hall of fame coach Tom Dineen.
Graham served as an assistant for Dineen at Stevenson the last three years and she was an all-state guard for Dineen when he was the head coach at Buffalo Grove.
“Catherine (Sherwood, a 5-11 forward) did a real nice job,” Graham said. “She had nice takes to the basket and looked to attack.
“But we had too many unforced errors and as a team we weren’t aggressive enough going to the basket. We didn’t get to the free throw line enough (1-of-2 while Stevenson was 16-of-22).”
Deerfield 44, Maine West 43: Deerfield rallied from a 37-31 deficit after three quarters to edge the Warriors (1-8, 0-2) in the Central Suburban North.
Junior forward Brittany Collins paced West with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Warriors senior guard Alexi Prosperi chipped in 8 points while teammates Julia Huinker and Ashley Collins added 6 apiece.
