Larkin 1, Streamwood 0: Kelsey Lodge's safety squeeze scored Alex Buhrow with the game's only run in the fourth inning Thursday as Larkin nipped Streamwood 1-0 in the Upstate Eight Conference. Lexi Smithberg (2-4) scattered 6 hits and had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks to earn the win for the Royals (7-16, 4-7).

"It was a great game," said Larkin coach Larry Hight. "The girls got after it. It was very windy and tough for everybody."

Amanda Patterson was equally tough for the Sabres (5-15, 1-9), allowing just 4 hits and no earned runs. She struck out nine.

"Amanda Patterson pitched a great game," said Streamwood coach Nick Baird, whose team made 4 errors. "Larkin made the plays. We did not."

Hampshire 12, St. Edward 11: St. Edward walked in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Hampshire pulled off a mild upset in a nonconference game at Hampshire. St. Edward (13-11) led 11-10 going into the bottom of the seventh. Kristi Knott (2-for-4, Veronica Rolando (RBI), Sarah Field (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), BreAunna Medinger (RBI), Kristina Brockner (2-for-3, 2B, RBI), Kelsey Richmond (RBI) and Taylor Lundquist (2 RBI) all contributed to the Green Wave offense, but St. Edward's big hitter was freshman Kali Kossakowski, whose grand slam home run in the top of the seventh put the Wave in position to win. Field suffered the loss for St. Edward. Katelyn Bruscato was the winner for the Whip-Purs (5-14). No further Hampshire information was available.

Lake Park 17, Elgin 0: Stephanie Doty and Jaclyn Navarro had doubles for Elgin (9-17, 3-8) in this Upstate Eight loss. Kelly Patchett was the Maroons' losing pitcher.

Luther North 12, Westminster Christian 0: Whitney VandenVoss and Stephanie Kleczynski had the only hits for Westminster (1-11, 1-8) in this Northeast Athletic Conference loss.
