Free health lectures on tap in November at Centegra

Centegra Health System will host several free health lectures in November. Community members are welcome to hear physicians speak about help for hip pain, robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomy, headaches and living a healthier life with diabetes. Space is limited and light refreshments will be served during the lectures. Register by calling (877) CENTEGRA (236-8347).

타 Hip pain can prevent sufferers from living the healthy and active lifestyle they desire. Playing golf, riding a bike or even walking can be so painful; the effort is not worth it. Dr. Warren Jablonsky, an independent orthopedic surgeon on the medial staff at Centegra Health System, will discuss the common causes of hip pain as well as the surgical and nonsurgical treatment options available to help alleviate these problems. “Help for Hurting Hips” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

타 Women who are considering hysterectomies now have an alternative to the major surgery of the past. Robotic or laparoscopic hysterectomy offers women less pain, a faster recovery time and a smaller scar than traditional surgery. Hear patient testimonials and join Dr. Alissa Erogbogbo and Dr. Darby Murphy, obstetrician/gynecologists with Centegra Physician Care, as they speak about robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomy, which they are both specially trained to perform. “Less Pain, Quicker Recovery: Robotic and Laparoscopic Hysterectomy” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

타 There are more than 45 million headache sufferers in the United States. Sinuses, tension, dehydration and hormones are only a few of the possible causes for the throbbing in your head. Dr. Paul Grindstaff, a neurologist at Centegra Physician Care, will discuss common triggers and remedies for different types of headaches. Grindstaff will also discuss when a headache is more than just a headache and when it is time to see a specialist. “Need Your Head Examined?” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

타 Those at risk or recently diagnosed with diabetes are not alone. More than 25 million people in the United States have diabetes, which can lead to other chronic conditions such as kidney failure, heart disease and stroke. Join Dr. Jyothi Gogineni, an endocrinologist with Centegra Physician Care, as she discusses the prevention and symptoms of diabetes as well as steps toward feeling better and leading a longer, healthier life. “Don’t Sugarcoat Diabetes” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.
