Elgin Academy names Rodriguez new coach

Elgin Academy has named Bill Rodriguez as its new varsity girls basketball coach.

Rodrigues replaces Charlie Porter, who resigned last month to accept an assistant coaching job at Lake Forest College.

“Bill has all the qualities we were looking for in a head coach,” said athletic director Dewayne Robinson. “He was chosen over other candidates due to his extensive knowledge of the game and the Elgin Academy community.”

Rodriguez served as Elgin Academy’s middle school coach for the last five years.
