Child advocates to hold informational sessions in Woodstock

Submitted by CASA of McHenry County

Are you looking to volunteer your time to give a voice to abused and neglected children in McHenry County? Join CASA of McHenry at one of two informational sessions to learn how you can volunteer with CASA. Guests are welcome to attend either session regardless of their interest.

CASA of McHenry County is a nonprofit organization that trains and supports volunteers to speak and act as advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children. They are trained to work within the child welfare and family court systems and are appointed by judges to individual cases. With the help of a CASA volunteer, a child is half as likely to languish in the foster care system, and that much more likely to find a safe and permanent home.

Advocate Night will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 at The Clubhouse at the Maples at the Sonatas, 645 Handel Lane, Woodstock. Join this informational session about becoming a juvenile court advocate. Current advocates will be on hand to answer your questions and share their experiences. Can’t make it? Email jorie@casamchenrycounty.org or call (815) 363-5920 for more information.

Committee and Event Night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Bull Valley Golf Club, 1311 Club Road, Woodstock.

If you are looking to give your time to support CASA’s mission through event planning and committee participation, come to hear about the many committees and events that need your help. Learn about other volunteer opportunities at CASA as well. Current board and committee members will be on hand to share information and answer questions.
