Cross country course to be dedicated to 2 Schaumburg coaches

In honor of two successful Schaumburg High School track coaches, the Schaumburg Park District will dedicate the Macnider Cross Country Course at Hoover School Park, 301 N. Springinsguth Road at 3:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22.

The course will be named for retired cross country coaches Jim and Jon Macnider, who combined have six state championships while working at Schaumburg High School. Recently retired, Jim Macnider coached the boys cross country team for 37 years. Jon retired in 2011 after 31 years coaching the girls cross country team. The decision to dedicate the cross country trail was made at the February Schaumburg Park District board meeting on a recommendation from the district’s naming committee. Parking at the site is not available until 3:30 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Hoover School gym, adjacent to the park.
