Cary Lions event aids Canine Companions

Submitted by Cary Lions Club

The Cary Lions Club is sponsoring the second annual Cary Cares for Canines from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Lions Park, 1180 Silver Lake Road in Cary. The rain date is Sunday, May 13.

The event is to raise funds for Canine Companions for Independence, a worldwide agency that breeds, trains and provides exceptional dogs for exceptional people at no cost to the recipient.

In its 35 years, CCI has placed more than 3,000 dogs with people who have special needs to increase their independence and quality of life.

Event registration is on-site and free. Each registrant will receive a goody bag. The Cary Lions Club is raising funds for CCI through program ads, exhibitor fees, raffles, and pictures with your dog. The afternoon will include educational presentations and exhibit booths offering ways to better care for and love our 4-legged best friends.

The event also offers dog activities and contests, with prizes for the winning dogs.
