Charity fundraiser showcases thrifty trends, ways to stretch your wardrobe

Shopping has become a challenge for fashionistas on a budget. To help alleviate some of the budget strain, Sweet Repeats Thrift Shoppe, 10514 Route 47, Huntley is hosting a “Spring Fling Fashion Show” to showcase fashion trends and ways to get more out of your wardrobe.

The event takes place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, and includes more than 25 models showcasing spring’s hottest looks, complimentary appetizers and prize drawings from local businesses. Plus, so you don’t have to wait to try out your new fashion ideas, the store will remain open until 6 p.m.

Annually, Pioneer Center provides direct services to more than 2,700 individuals and families. The organization also provides education and outreach to schools and community organizations reaching more than 10,000 additional individuals. Pioneer Center addresses social issues in the forms of poverty, homelessness, sexual assault, at-risk youth and families, developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance abuse with the intent of enhancing the quality of life and well-being of people and communities.
