Lakes handles Deerfield

Lakes’ boys basketball team won its second game of the weekend Saturday night, beating host Deerfield 65-45 in nonconference action.

Lakes (17-9) used a strong third quarter to extend its 28-24 halftime lead and take control of the game.

The Eagles were led by Justin Bergeron, who scored 16 points. Direll Clark added 15 and Justin Schneider had 13.

Wauconda 53, McHenry 51: Three players scored in double digits to help the Bulldogs get a much-needed win and improve their record to 11-15.

Kyle Ryan led Wauconda with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Keith Blomberg chipped in 11 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds, and Connor Rueb added 12 points for the Bulldogs, who had lost seven of their last eight.
