Awards part of public health week events in McHenry County

In keeping with National Public Health Week's "A Healthier America: One Community at a Time" Monday April 5 to Saturday, April 11, McHenry County Department of Health will acknowledge individuals who have made an impact on the community. Nominations of individuals or groups that embody the spirit of public health from the following categories include:

• Students: Those who have demonstrated a commitment toward improving the health of the community through volunteering, fundraising, mentoring or increasing awareness of a health concern.

• Volunteers: Those who have shown dedication outside of their normal work day to improve the safety and health of the community.

• Professionals: those who have made an improvement on the health and well-being of the public.

A description of the Spirit of Public Health Awards can be viewed at mcdh.info along with winners from previous years and this year's nomination form. The deadline to file nominations is Friday, April 9.

Selected candidates will be notified.
