St. Viator to hold green-themed Winter Arts Festival
Saint Viator students put an eco-friendly spin on their Winter Arts Festival, which opens at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, in the Jeuck Auditorium. Admission is free.
Green aspects include a performance by the Concert Choir, under the direction of first year choral Director Kristina Sandrock, singing “Fragile Day,” a piece inspired by a reaction to the Gulf oil spill.
Student musicians from the concert, symphonic and jazz bands will play a novelty piece using musical instruments they built from recycled objects.
Students in ceramics classes have created ornaments that educate patrons about increasingly rare animals that will decorate a Christmas tree in the theater lobby.
Guests can shop locally, with such items for sale as drawings, paintings, photographs and ceramics, all created by Saint Viator students and staff members. A percentage of the sales will be donated to cleaning up the Gulf oil spill.
