Luke Wians tossed a complete game, scattering 8 hits with 9 strikeouts Friday as Hampshire’s baseball team won for the second day in a row, downing Belvidere 7-5 in nonconference action.
Dan Grzywa was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead Hampshire’s 11-hit attack. Matt Calvello had 2 hits, Nick Holze 2 hits including a 2-run home run, Jake Kuhn a triple and an RBI and Tyler Crater 2 RBI for Hampshire (2-3).
St. Edward 15, Hamilton County 7: Luke Duffy was 4-for-5 with 5 RBI to lead the Green Wave (2-5) to a win in southern Illinois. Jack Sutherland had 2 hits and 2 RBI for St. Edward and Derek Porto had 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Jake Koehring was the winning pitcher, allowing 9 hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Goreville 11, Westminster Christian 6: The Warriors (1-4) continued to struggle, falling to Goreville in southern Illinois. Ryan Perez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Westminster, Aaron Weiwel drove in a run, Andrew Mason had 2 hits including a double and losing pitcher Zach Barfield drove in a run.
Glenbrook South 5, Dundee-Crown 4: Chris Gorman allowed only 1 earned run but 4 errors did in the Chargers (2-4) in this nonconference loss. Scott Nowicke had 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Dylan Kissack a double and an RBI for D-C.
