Too many kids driven to school
In today’s world, we are pushing the need to conserve our planet’s resources. I believe that Elgin Area School District U-46 has taken this concept in a different direction. Since the new program’s inception, the transportation department has reduced the Woodland Hills buses from four buses to two, which leads me to believe that Woodland Hills has around 40 or so parents or teenagers driving to school.
Multiply it by 10, and we have 400 vehicles using fuel to get to and from school. Extrapolate this over the whole district to estimate the amount of fuel wasted.
