McHenry County SleepOut to benefit PADS

The second annual SleepOut for Shelter to benefit McHenry County PADS will take place April 30. Registration is being accepted for individuals or teams.

SleepOut for Shelter is a countywide, educational experience and fundraiser to help end homelessness in McHenry County. Event participants will spend the night outside in tents, boxes or cars to raise awareness and money for McHenry County PADS, a division of Pioneer Center for Human Services.

Through the collection of pledges or “fun-raising” for spending one night — eight hours — outside the comfort of their home, participants will help homeless individuals in their search for shelter and a new beginning. Participants can either sleep out at one of the rally sites or they can turn their lawns into temporary homeless shelter sites and camp out at their home or place of business.

Participants can take their commitment a step further and take the Ultimate Team Challenge.

Teams taking the challenge will commit to fundraising $500 or more and compete with other McHenry County businesses and groups to raise the most money to benefit McHenry County PADS. The winner will display the SleepOut for Shelter traveling trophy for one year.
