Vista sponsors Walk for Seniors Sept. 10

Vista Health System is walking the walk. As a sponsor of Walk for Seniors, Vista is participating as walkers, workers and vendors. The walk, on Saturday, September 10, 2011, begins at 10 a.m. at 13th and Sheridan Road in North Chicago and travels through downtown Waukegan. The walk concludes at Victory Park located at W. Glen Flora and North Avenues in Waukegan, which is directly adjacent to Vista Medical Center East.

Vista will have two booths at the Health Fair. One booth will have valuable information regarding Vista programs and services such as Senior Circle, the Joint Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and the Chest Pain Center of Excellence. Senior Circle volunteers will be on hand to answer questions regarding Senior Circle programs and activities.

The second booth will feature information provided by the Vista Physician Group. Dr. Timothy Stegemann, one of Vista's newest family physicians, will provide free blood pressure checks.

Dr. Stegemann joins Vista after completing his residency as a member of the U.S. Navy at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, California.

In addition, Dr. Antao Du will be at the Vista booth to discuss stroke prevention, how to determine if you are having a stroke and what to do if you are having one. Dr. Du is Vista's newest neurologist and completed residencies in Transitional Medicine and Neurology at Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Du also has done extensive research in MRI and spectroscopy in stroke and neurodegenerative diseases.

Vista Health System encourages everyone in the community to walk to better health.
