Community welcome to two wellness lectures at Centraga in Crystal Lake
Submitted by Centegra Health System
Centegra Health System will host two free wellness lectures in February. Community members are welcome to hear physicians speak about carpal tunnel syndrome and blood thinning medications. Space is limited. Register by calling (877) 236-8347.
Ÿ Individuals feeling pain, numbness, tingling or weakness in their wrist, hand or fingers may be suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Kelly Holtkamp, an independent orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, will discuss the signs, symptoms and treatment options available for carpal tunnel syndrome.
“Wave Goodbye to Carpal Tunnel” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway. After the lecture, Holtkamp will perform free carpal tunnel screenings. Screenings take 10 minutes per person; therefore this event is limited to 14 participants. Registration is required.
Ÿ Anticoagulants are the number one class of medications in the “high alert” category. While these blood-thinning medications help prevent the formation of blood clots and can save an individual’s life, there are many safety concerns to consider while on this form of therapy.
Ron Albertson, a pharmacist at Centegra Health System, will discuss how to prevent bleeding complications from anticoagulants and how Centegra’s anticoagulation clinic can help. “Blood Thinning Medications: What You Need to Know” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.
