St. Viator closes early to fight heat

St. Viator students had an unexpected early release from classes on Tuesday due to the extreme heat index.

School President Rev. Corey Brost announced Monday that students would complete their full classroom schedule on Tuesday, only in 25 minute increments, rather than the full 45 minute classes. The shortened class schedule allowed them to complete their day by 12:15 p.m., and before the heat of the day reached the predicted 105 degree heat index.

School officials also canceled all outdoor athletic practices and competitions, as well as practices in its Cahill Gymnasium. Most of Saint Viator's classrooms are not air-conditioned.
