Two holiday-themed shows in Schaumburg

The Schaumburg Park District's Community Recreation Center will be the place to go for heartwarming holiday stories.

Tickets are already on sale for the park district's latest theatrical productions, “The Wishing Tree” and “Jingle Bells All The Way,” both of which are full of Christmas spirit.

In “The Wishing Tree,” a department store Santa suggests his younger co-workers write down their special Christmas wishes and hang them on the Christmas tree in the employee lounge. They decide an important part of Christmas is “not just the gifts, but the thought that goes into them,” and soon the tree is covered with envelopes describing the wishes they would give to others if they could. The way each Christmas dream comes true makes this a memorable and thought-provoking story.

Performances for this show are at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 and 27, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 28. Tickets cost $11 for adults 13 years old and older and $6 for kids 12 and younger.

“Jingle Bells All The Way” is a fun-filled, 30-minute musical for the entire family. After the performances, children will visit with Santa and other Christmas characters. Mrs. Claus will have her kitchen open where cookie treats can be purchased to decorate and eat.

Performances will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 and 1 p.m. Dec. 5. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Groups of 10 or more will receive a $2 discount per ticket, but all tickets must be purchased at once.

All performances are at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road.
