Schaumburg parks recognizes photography, garden clubs
The Schaumburg Park District Board of Commissioners, at its July 11 meeting, recognized the Schaumburg Area Photographic Society and the Schaumburg Community Garden Club for outstanding partnerships.
Since 1977, the Schaumburg Area Photographic Society has been dedicated to the enjoyment of the photographic experience. The club has captured thousands of photographs at district special events and programs for use in brochures, publications and online. The very active group exists as a creative outlet and learning channel for local residents to expand and improve photography skills.
Since 1989, the Schaumburg Community Garden Club has educated the community on beautifying their properties. It also supports environmental stewardship through hands-on education programs. The local network of gardeners share their expertise through information, tips and techniques. The club collaborates with the district and participates in special events including the Backyards for Nature Fair, Holiday Bazaar and Bargain Bulb Sale. The group also supports the district through donations to Spring Valley.
Schaumburg Park District park board meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Thursday of every month at the Jerry Handlon Administration Building. The district honors an organization each month during its 50th anniversary.
