Lake Co. Family YMCA plans May 21 Community Celebration

Lake County Family YMCA invites you to a Brand New Day Community Celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Flatlander's Brewing Company, 200 Village Green, Lincolnshire.

“Many people don't realize that we're a nonprofit that reinvests in the community. We never turn anyone away due to inability to pay,” Board Chair Arnold Thomas said. “Our annual fundraiser enables us to continue and expand our programs and services that foster youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”

This is the first time Flatlander's Brewing Company has closed its entire facility for an event of this size. Owner Russ Sher said, “We're excited to partner with the Y whose programs are vital to our community. We'll offer a unique atmosphere with special beer/wine/food-pairing stations and more. We are going all-out to showcase this event and encourage everyone to come out and support the Y.”

Energetic entertainment will include a face-trait analyst, a magician and comedian, plus old-fashioned black-and-white photo-booth opportunities. In addition, special performances, both a stomp crew and glee club, will be given from children in the Northern Lake and Central Lake YMCA after-school programs.

Lake County Family YMCA Board Member and Event Committee Chair Dave Wille added that there will be a live and silent auction for exciting sports and entertainment packages and travel experiences.

“Our committee has procured many wonderful auction items, thanks to the generosity of the local business community,” Wille said. “There's sure to be something for everyone at this spectacular event.”

“We also have a raffle for an exciting travel experience that includes airfare for two and a three-night stay,” Wille added. “Only 200 tickets will be sold at $50 a ticket with the winner selecting his or her excursion.”

Raffle winner will select one of the following: Napa Valley wine experience with chauffeur and wine train; New York adventure with tickets to a Broadway show of his/her choice, plus dinner; or a Monterey golf trip with one round of golf on Del Monte golf course. Winning ticket will be drawn at the May 21 event but winner need not be present.

Brand New Day event tickets are $100 each or two for $175. Y members' price is $90 each or two for $160. One-half of the ticket price is tax deductible. Donations to the Y are 100 percent tax deductible.

To purchase tickets, make a donation or become a sponsor, call Makayla Cansler at (847) 367-6797 or email mcansler@ymcalakecounty.org or check out website www.tinyurl.com/ymcabrandnewday

Proceeds from the event will support the Lake County Family YMCA, a cause-driven nonprofit that has been serving the community nearly 120 years. The Lake County Family YMCA is comprised of Northern Lake Y in Waukegan, Central Lake Y in Vernon Hills and Early Head Start in Waukegan.

Community leader sponsors are Flatlander's Brewing Company and WKRS/WXLC radio stations.
