Success continues for Prospect
Prospect is heading the right way into a crucial stretch of Mid-Suburban East Division boys basketball games.
The Knights won their third straight and for the fifth time in six games Tuesday when they stopped Fremd 59-51 in an MSL crossover at Jean Walker Field House in Mount Prospect.
"We've started to find our groove a little bit," said Prospect coach John Camardella, whose team faces Buffalo Grove, Rolling Meadows and Hersey in its next three games.
"I was really happy with the way we finished the Hardwood (Classic at Wheeling)."
Senior Mike LaTulip scored a game-high 22 points and had 6 assists to lead the Knights (8-5), who went 3-1 and finished in fifth place at the recent Wheeling tournament.
Brad Reibel had 8 points and 5 assists.
"That's the balance we're looking for from those two," Camardella said.
Prospect junior Devin O'Hara continued his recent solid play with 10 points, 10 reobunds and 3 assists off the bench.
Garrett Peters (17 points), Adam Gorecki (14 points) and Nate Serviss (8 points) led Fremd (9-6), as the Vikings suffered their fourth consecutive loss.
Buffalo Grove 62, Palatine 38: Six-foot-7 senior Sam Wacker scored 24 points and had 8 rebounds for Buffalo Grove (5-9) as the Bison broke away from a 28-22 halftime lead in the MSL crossover.
"Sam was a force for us," said BG coach Ryan O'Connor. "He's a presence for us inside and allows us to be more aggressive on the perimeter.
"I thought we played a solid defensive game and did a nice job of keeping them off the boards."
Luke Potnick added 17 points and four 3s for the Bison. John Millin scored 16 points and Josh Baldus added 9 points for Palatine (1-13).
Hoffman Estates 54, Wheeling 44: Austin Terry scored 23 points and hit three 3s as Hoffman (5-8) broke a 22-22 halftime tie in the MSL crossover.
