St. Viator's McConnell headed for Assumption
St. Viator senior Kelly McConnell, an all-area middle hitter who set career and season blocks records, has signed a letter of intent with Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. The 5-foot-11 McConnell, a three-year stater, was captain of the back-to-back St. Viator regional championship teams.
She finished her senior season with 49 aces, 171 kills, a .343 hitting percentage, 63 digs and 79 blocks.
"Kelly is going to be sorely missed next year," said Lions coach Charlie Curtin. "She was truly an integral part of all our success the last two years."
Curtin is looking forward to McConnell's career at Assumption, a Division II school to which she has received a scholarship.
"Kelly will do a wonderful job at Assumption," he said. "She is extremely dedicated to the sport of volleyball and her positive attitude and hard work is a lift to any program she is a part of.
"Kelly was truly a pleasure to coach throughout her high school career and I believe she will have an impact on her new team from day one."
