Schaumburg Library set to open time capsule from 1998

On Saturday, Sept. 23, Schaumburg Township District Library will open the time capsule placed in a cornerstone of its Central Library when it was built in 1998.

Schaumburg Library will be opening the time capsule that was placed in the cornerstone of its Central Library when it was built in 1998. Enjoy crafts and treats (while supplies last), music and more to celebrate this historic moment. You can also join live online and watch the opening of the time capsule from the comfort of your home.

When the Library unearths the time capsule from 1998, they'll replace it with a new one, to be opened in 50 years. You can view the items that will go into the new time capsule at the Central Library starting Sept. 11. You can also view the contents from the 1998 time capsule at the Central Library after the Sept. 23 event.
