Learn to cope with loss at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital

Submitted by Good Shepherd Hospital

Holiday joy can be difficult to come by if you’re facing emotional pain caused by a loss. Losing loved ones, jobs, health, independence, relationships or even pets can bring about feelings of grief and despair which can be especially challenging this time of year.

“During the holidays, many people are caught in a dilemma between the need to grieve and the pressure to get into the spirit of the season,” said Claudia Pitts, PhD. During Advocate Good Shepherd’s Coping with Loss program, Dr. Pitts will explain ways to help you cope with loss and experience healthier outcomes overall during the holidays and throughout the year. This program will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

The lecture is free and will take place in the Prairie Room at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W. Route 22, Barrington. A light meal will be provided. Space is limited; sign up by calling (800) 323-8622 and mention class code 3M38 or go to advocatehealth.com/gshp, click on “I need a class or support group” and type the class code in the keyword box.
