U-46 Venus viewing was priceless

Fence Post writer Ms. Keys was mistaken about U-46 charging to view the Transit of Venus. The event was free.

The purchase of the special glasses was only if you wanted to look directly at the sun, not for viewing through the telescopes. You weren’t required to purchase. I even got a free cookie with my purchase — what a deal.

I and others also shared our glasses with others.

The volunteers who set up telescopes and talked with the attendees were informative and helpful. It was a wonderful community and neighborhood event and U-46 is to be commended for its commitment to the historic observatory. How fortunate we were to have been able to watch a once-in-a-lifetime event in our own backyard. Thank you.
