Buffalo Grove won its third straight game and went above the .500 mark in the Mid-Suburban East with a 62-56 triumph over visiting Prospect on Friday night.
Balanced scoring continued to be the theme for the Bison (8-11, 3-2), who were led by Alanna Zawlocki (13 points), Andrea DiPrima (13), Emily Cho (11) and KC Dunne (9).
DiPrima and Dunne each had 3-pointers as the Bison rallied from a 15-7 first quarter deficit.
Prospect (9-10, 2-3) was paced by senior seniors Ashley Wabik (18 points) and Sarah Winans (14).
Senior center Sarah Hunt also made it into double figures with 10 points for the Knights, who come back today at 10 a.m. to face St. Ignatius in the McDonald’s Shootout at Willowbrook High School.
Rolling Meadows 57, Wheeling 40: Rolling Meadows (14-6, 4-1) remained one game out of first place in the Mid-Suburban East as junior Amanda Gunn tossed home a season-high 17 points, followed by freshman Jackie Kemph (15) and sophomore Morgan Keller (10).
The host Wildcats (3-17, 1-4) were led by Leah Malsom (14), Kellie Kuzmanic (11) and Kelsey Maczko (11).
Hersey 57, Elk Grove 31: Senior Megan Rogowski scored a game-high 16 points and three 3-pointers in about one half as she returned from missing Hersey’s last game with a broken pinkie on her left hand.
Junior Maggie Hogen added 12 points and Corinne Busby chipped in 11 with 7 of 8 free throws for the MSL East division-leading Huskies (16-3, 5-0).
Stefanie Mueller added 8 points for visiting Hersey, which visits Glenbrook South at 2:30 p.m. today for a nonconference game in Glenview.
Diamond Boyd led Elk Grove (8-12, 1-4) with 8 points while Maggie Fries had 6 points with a pair of 3-pointers.
Schaumburg 49, Palatine 46 (OT): Alyssa Saklak and Jenna Gerber each had a basket while Alexis Carravetta and Amanda Kelly added a free throw in overtime for host Schaumburg (8-10, 2-3).
Kelly and Gerber led Schaumburg with 14 points apiece while Saklak finished with 11.
Palatine (6-14, 0-5) was paced by sophomore McKenzie Wiedemann (13 points), junior Katelyn Mayer (12) and sophomore Nia Pappas (11).
Highland Park 62, Maine West 53: Host Highland Park (6-0) gained a two-game lead over Maine West (6-14, 4-2) in the Central Suburban North despite 25 points and 16 rebounds from Warriors freshman Brittany Collins.
Junior guards Amanda Hoye and Megan John each chipped in 9 points for the Warriors, who fell behind 20-8 after one quarter.
