Addison Parks offers Thanksgiving break fun
Do your kids complain of nothing to do during the day on their breaks home from school? The Addison Park District offers an ideal solution for you with exciting trips and fun activities planned during the week of Thanksgiving.
The Park District has fun activities for kindergarten students who don't have school on Friday, Nov. 18 and for first- through fifth-graders who have early dismissal at noon that day. Kids will enjoy activities such as crafts, games, gym activities and even outdoor sports, if the weather is appropriate. For additional information or to register, call (630) 833-0100.
On Monday, Nov. 21, the park district is hosting a trip to LEGOland Discovery Center in Schaumburg for kids 3 years old through fifth grade. This location features a miniature replica of downtown Chicago built entirely out of LEGOs, a Walk of Fame with celebrities constructed of LEGOs, and several interactive exhibits too.
Kids of all ages will enjoy Dragon Quest when they climb aboard a friendly dragon to explore an enchanted castle. Lunch is available at a café inside the facility, or kids are welcomed to bring their own sack lunch and drink for this trip. The park district will take a trip to Chicago on Tuesday, Nov. 22 to explore the Museum of Science and Industry. In addition to permanent exhibits like the U-505 submarine the Museum currently features a tribute to Dr. Seuss titled “There's Fun to be Done! Dr. Seuss and the Art of Invention.” There is a food court inside the museum, however kids are welcome to bring their own sack lunch and drink for this trip. On Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Park District will take a trip to the Picture Show in Bloomingdale to catch the latest movie. Additional crafts, games and gym activities are planned during the day for additional fun. Kids are encouraged to pack a sack lunch and drink for the day and may bring additional money for concessions at the movie.
