Ministers celebrate significant ordination anniversaries at Huntley church

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley recently acknowledged a very special occasion at the church during its services on June 11.

Senior Pastor Mark Boster acknowledged the extraordinary significant ordination anniversaries of six retired ministers at Shepherd of the Prairie: The Rev. Bob Dirks, 65 years, 1958; Rev. Roy Olson, 55 years, 1968; Rev. Arthur Puotinen, 55 years, 1968; Rev. Curt Gerald, 50 years, 1973; Rev. Bill Waxenberg, 50 years, 1973; and Rev. John Sturz, 20 years, 2003.

"It is important for us to take time to be grateful to our heavenly Father for our many blessings," said Senior Pastor Boster. "We are blessed to have these six retired ministers of the Gospel with us. They are a gift of God to this church as ministers of Word and Sacrament ministry with a combined total of 295 years of ministry and service."

A brief video was shown to the congregation highlighting each of the ministers, who also received a special citation and gifts in appreciation for their service.
