Borcia powers another Libertyville win
Few basketball players are hotter than Libertyville junior center Joe Borcia, and the Wildcats are doing well themselves.
Borcia scored a game-high 24 points Wednesday night, as Libertyville remained undefeated by beating visiting Warren 55-35 in a North Suburban Lake Division opener.
Borcia is averaging 21.8 points per game for the 5-0 Wildcats.
Jack Lipp added 10 points for Libertyville, which led 14-10 after one quarter and then outscored Warren (3-3) 14-0 in the second quarter. Borcia scored 9 points in the opening half. He netted 9, including a 3-pointer, in the third quarter, before tallying 6 more points on 3 field goals in the fourth.
Dominic Cuevas led Warren with 11 points.
Grayslake North 75, Round Lake 69: Aidan Einloth scored 21 points, Dom DiProva added 19, and the Knights earned their first win of the season.
The nonconference game was tied 48-48 after three quarters.
Bobby Krebs and Brandon Tepper chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Grayslake North (1-4). Matt Taskovic scored 9 for the Knights. Einloth and Krebs each hit three 3-pointers, while DiProva sank a pair.
Karnell Wright’s 21 points paced Round Lake. Mateusz Lopez (14 points) and Robert Pisarski (13) also scored in double figures for the Panthers.
McHenry 59, Wauconda 48: Dion Head had 14 points and 4 assists for the host Bulldogs in the nonconference game.
Wauconda (3-2) also received 9 points from Joey Lovelle.
