South Elgin missed a chance to move into a tie for the Upstate Eight Conference lead when the Storm dropped a 6-5 decision to Lake Park in Roselle Tuesday night.

South Elgin (15-5, 10-4) took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Lake Park rallied for 4 runs against starting pitcher Sam Jordt, who suffered the loss. Kyle Kinyon went 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice and Dan Heine drove in a pair of runs for the Storm.

South Elgin remains a game behind UEC leader St. Charles North (19-4, 11-3), which was beaten Tuesday by St. Charles East, 11-7.

Larkin 13, Bartlett 7: Senior Jake McCleary held the Hawks to 4 earned runs on 8 hits and struck out four in 5 innings to help the Royals snap a 7-game losing streak. Scott Harm (3-for-5) and Justin Lewis (1-for-3) each hit home runs and Victor Saldana (3 RBI) and Shane Glasgow each finished 3-for-5 for at the plate for Larkin (5-16, 4-9).

Alex Raver (2-4) took the loss and Dan Miceli doubled and drove in 3 runs for Bartlett (9-14, 5-11), which saw a 3-game winning streak come to an end.

Burlington Central 7, Richmond-Burton 2: Zach Ranney improved to 5-1 by holding R-B to an earned run on 4 hits in 6 innings. Austin Jarvis went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI and Ray Hunnicutt went 3-for-3 with a solo home run for Central (24-1, 7-0), which won its 19th straight.

Jacobs 23, Clemente 5: The Golden Eagles pounded out 16 hits to win in nonconference action.

Senior Ben Albano enjoyed another big day at the plate, going 5-for-5 with 2 home runs, a double, 7 RBI and 5 runs. Brad Mertins hit a grand slam and Matt Schmidt homered, doubled and drove in a pair for Jacobs (11-10-1).

Joe Ross improved to 4-0 by striking out eight, walking two and allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings.

North Boone 12, Hampshire 9: Senior Ryan DeChant went 3-for-4 with a double and Luke Wians had a triple among his 2 hits, but it wasn't enough for the Whip-Purs to overcome the visiting Vikings in a Big Northern East game. North Boone scored 4 runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-8 lead and tag DeChant (0-2) with the loss.

Guerin 12, St. Edward 6: At Wing Park in Elgin, Guerin overcame a 5-4 deficit with a 6-run fifth inning to hand the Green Wave a loss in the Suburban Christian Gold. Sophomore Luke Duffy (4-6) allowed 6 runs on 8 hits in 3 innings pitched. T.J. Madzy, John Godfrey and David Hoebbel each doubled and Jordan Torres drove in 2 runs for St. Edward (11-14, 5-8).
