Democracy Schools Network grant will fund project at Glenbard West

Glenbard West High School, a Democracy school, will use a grant from the Illinois Democracy Schools Network for a project focusing on immigration law. The Illinois Democracy Schools Network is a joint initiative of the Illinois Civic Mission Coalition and Robert R. McCormick Foundation. The network awarded funds to Illinois high schools for projects that build stronger civic learning experiences for students. The grants fund projects that illustrate innovative ideas and projects that advance school civic learning goals.

Glenbard West teacher Elizabeth McGann received the grant for her U.S. Government English Language Learners class next year.

All of our schools are Illinois Democracy Schools, which consciously promote civic engagement by all students, have an intentional focus on fostering participatory citizenship and place an emphasis on helping students understand how the ideals and principles of our society relate to important current problems, opportunities and controversies.
