The Brit Pack Pop Quartet makes a stop at Schaumburg Prairie Center Oct. 13
Highly charged quartet The Brit Pack delivers the artistry that is British pop music to the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts at 7:30 pm, Friday, October 13.
The seasoned players, Matt Nakoa (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Mark Johnson (guitar, vocals), Will Hayward Smith (drums) and Brian Percivall (bass) have worked alongside both British (Paul McCartney) and American (Britney Spears) icons.
Self-described as “British born but American made,” The Brit Pack was founded by two Brits in New York and have established a reputation as the one of the most authentic British pop and rock tribute bands in the US.
For lead vocalist Mark Johnson, the Brit Pack's success lies not only in the faithful recreations of the material they play, but also how the band gets to the emotional core of songs that are so deeply embedded in the memory banks of concert audiences.
“Will (Haywood Smith, the drummer) and I are both British, so the whole ethos of the band is close to our hearts,” says Johnson. “I think our niche is that we know these songs inside out and give them our own cohesive sound.” Cohesiveness seems daunting when covering the multi-faceted six-decade history of British rock, but Johnson relishes the opportunity. “It's a real musical challenge to play a set ranging from Queen to The Beatles, Led Zepplin and The Police, but I think that's where we shine, and it's always fun for us.” Other artists heard at a Brit Pack concert might include Elton John, The Kinks, Radiohead, The Clash, Amy Winehouse, and others.
Tickets for The Brit Pack, $32 ($30 for students and seniors), can be ordered at #8221;https://www.prairiecenter.org/programs/season-of-arts-entertainment/the-brit-pack">www.prairiecenter.org or by calling (847) 895-3600.
