Free Zero Harm event July 22

All are welcome, rain or shine, on Saturday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free safety event supporting members of the surrounding communities. Activities will be located in St. Simon's Episcopal Church parking Lot (717 W. Kirchhoff Road) and parking will be available in Northwest Community Healthcare's (NCH) Busse Center Parking Garage.

Services offered include: Drug take-back (prescription, illegal and sharps); child safety seat inspection and instruction; bicycle safety; Peddlecar Impaired Driving Program (ages 16+); In Plain Sight Situational Awareness Program for parents; NCH Behavioral Health Education and Railroad Grade Crossing education for drivers and pedestrians from the Metra Police.

This event also is an opportunity for local residents to turn in any unwanted working guns they may have, no questions asked, in exchange for a $100 reward. All firearms will be destroyed.

Police Departments from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine and Rolling Meadows are working with NCH and St. Simon's Episcopal Church to bring this zero harm event to the community.
