Shepherd of the Prairie to celebrate groundbreaking of new sanctuary, expansion

On Sunday, June 4, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will celebrate the groundbreaking of its new sanctuary and mission center expansion at 2 p.m.

The ceremony will include the Revs. Mark Boster and Bill Waxenberg, Lutheran church leaders and public officials.

The new sanctuary will enhance worship experience and increase seating capacity. The expansion will provide increased classroom space for Sunday school, vacation Bible school, adult education, music programs, youth groups and other key ministries.

According to Pastor Mark, "Shepherd of the Prairie is a community of faith continually seeking to grow our ministry of care in Huntley and the communities which God has called us to serve. The new facility will allow for further development of the church's ministries and a larger sanctuary for our growing congregation."

Shepherd of the Prairie is a church community committed to "Caring for God's children of all ages, growing disciples who make disciples."

Located in Huntley at Main and Manhattan, its current building was dedicated August 2009. From humble beginnings in 2001 at Hoppy's Barber Shop, the church has grown to over 1,000 members.

Shepherd of the Prairie provides various worship experiences including Sunday traditional at 9 a.m., contemporary at 10:45 a.m., and Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

Its focus on ministry allows people to serve the Lord with their unique talents and abilities. To get details or see a slideshow of the church renderings, visit www.sotp.org.
