Cary Physical Therapy offers osteoporosis workshop to fellow professionals

Statistics show that over the age of 55, one in two women and one in four men will suffer a fracture due to low bone density.

On April 9-10, Deb Gulbrandson, owner of Cary Physical Therapy will be teaching a workshop called "Osteoporosis: A Comprehensive Treatment Strategy."

This two-day workshop focuses on a comprehensive program for management of patients with osteoporosis, osteopenia and postural problems. The course is being offered to physical and occupational therapists, physical therapy and occupational assistants, and athletic trainers. All of these professionals work with individuals with low bone density.

While exercise is extremely important in managing/reducing the effects of osteoporosis, it is even more important to do the correct exercises. Certain exercises have been shown to dramatically increase the possibility of compression fractures. Deb Gulbrandson is a certified osteoporosis exercise specialist who not only treats her patients and works with patients teaching correct exercise at her clinic but along with pioneer Sara Meeks, she travels the country teaching this innovative, effective, SAFE, program to other professionals.

All of the physical therapists at Cary Physical Therapy are trained in treating osteoporosis using the Meeks Method. The clinic staff specialize in the evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis and are happy to discuss your specific needs in this area. Call (847) 516-8095, ext. 0 for your free consultation.
