North Suburban YMCA Wins 11 North Shore Choice Awards

For the third year in a row, the North Suburban YMCA was honored by community voters in the 2019 North Shore Choice Awards, presented by 22nd Century Media. The Y received 11 first place awards including: Best Camp, Sports Camp, Art Studio, Kids Birthday Party Venue, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Venue, Dance Studio, Fitness Center/ Gym, Personal Trainer, Spin Classes, Swim School, and Yoga.

The North Shore Choice Awards ceremony was held on March 27th, 2019 at Pinstripes in Northbrook. Members of the Y's management staff and department chairs were present to receive their 11 awards from 22nd Century Media. "We are thrilled to again receive this honor by our community," commented Howard Schultz, President/CEO of the NSYMCA. "We're very grateful to everyone who voted and showed how much they appreciate the Y's programs, facilities, and wonderful staff."

Celebrating 50 years of service at its Northbrook facility in 2018-2019, the NSYMCA is well known in the community for the breadth and quality of its programs, as well as its welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook, the NSYMCA serves 15 local municipalities with a full spectrum of classes, camps, and events for all ages.

For its Golden Anniversary the Y launched several new initiatives, including: a Diabetes Prevention Program; "2 Seconds 2 Long," a children's swim safety partnership with local schools; the Enhance®Fitness Arthritis Management program; Social Responsibility projects; S.T.E.A.M. youth education opportunities; and other goals to advance the Y for the next 50 years.
