Learn about peripheral vascular disease at new Advocate Outpatient Center

Elgin, Ill. - A program at the new Advocate Outpatient Center in Huntley will focus on peripheral vascular and peripheral artery disease.

Join Dr. Maciej Malinski, cardiologist with the Advocate Heart Institute on staff at Advocate Sherman Hospital, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, as he discusses preventive strategies, symptoms and treatment options at the outpatient center, located at 12155 Regency Parkway in Huntley.

Clogged leg arteries, also known as PVD, greatly increases a person's risk of heart attack, stroke, amputation and death. PAD is an organic PVD caused by fatty buildups in the inner walls of the arteries, which then block normal blood flow.

Lifestyle changes usually improve symptoms or keep them from getting worse, but in some patients, lifestyle changes and medications aren't enough. Get a leg up on better health and join Dr. Malinski to learn about symptoms, risk factors and treatment options, as well as whether a person should be tested.
