Photo by Area Photographer in New National Council on Aging Series

A photo by Inverness resident Robin Booth is included in the National Council on Aging's new exhibition, "Celebrating the Strength and Wisdom of Women."

Booth photographed 95 year-old Helen Messerschmidt at Lake Barrington Woods' Halloween festival wearing a graduation cap and gown as her costume. Messerschmidt graduated from Valparaiso University and also spent some time at Oxford in England before launching her career as an English teacher. For the past 23 years, she has been a resident of Lake Barrington Woods, a senior community in Lake Barrington offering both independent and assisted living.

For this year's National Council on Aging (NCOA) exhibit, photographers were asked to visually share photos of older women who continue to embrace their lives and contribute to their families and communities. Booth's photo is included in a section called "Staff picks."
