Kick It and Stick It with Northbrook Park District this Spring

Team up with the Northbrook Park District! The deadline for registration for the Youth Spring Lacrosse league is sneaking up, and early registration for soccer starts soon. As a young athlete with the Northbrook Park District, the emphasis is on the development of the child as an individual and an athlete, rather than the competitive aspect of winning. The program strives to provide a fun and safe atmosphere in which children learn respect, sportsmanship, and skills. All players receive equal playing time and are introduced to all positions.

Children in grades 1-8 are eligible for the Boy's Travel Lacrosse League which starts on March 16. Anybody wanting to pick up a lacrosse stick and hit the fields this Spring should register by the deadline of Sunday, March 6.

The Lacrosse League is open to anyone interested in learning and playing the game, whether they have picked up a stick before or not. A great relationship has been established with Glenbrook North High School and many of their coaches also coach in the youth lacrosse program with the Park District. For many players, this is an opportunity to play for their hometown and work with GBN coaches before entering high school.

For those wanting to head to the soccer field, there are several league options. The Sunday Spring Soccer League is offered for players in Kindergarten to Grade 4 and the Spring Outdoor Soccer League is for players from 3 years old through 6th grade. Participants who register for the Spring Outdoor Soccer League by March 4 receive a discount of 10%.

"The Northbrook Park District provides the community with a high-quality house league program that allows the kids to not only learn and play the game of soccer but make new friends, build confidence on and off the field and teach sportsmanship," said Athletics Supervisor Cameron Edelman. "Players also get to play in our Friday Night Lights Series where they play a game under the lights at Techny turf fields, with a DJ, raffle prizes and other fun activities including sign making station."
